Allow us to fit to your schedule. With our performance audio tours you can explore the attraction at your own pace – visitors tend to spend between 45 minutes to 90 minutes. For foreign visitors, our audio-tours are currently available in Spanish, French and German.

Paranormal Groups 

Summoning all spook investigators! What better place to conduct a paranormal investigation than a Victorian prison?

Safe to say the building has lived many lives; from a reformed jail holding solitary misguided souls and criminals condemned to death, to a Military Detention Barracks and specialist venereal disease clinic. Interactions with the astral realm are certainly not at a loss: on a daily basis both sceptical and believing staff experience something.

By day the Jail is a welcoming, light and airy space. However, by the veil of night, it cannot be denied that the atmosphere shifts dramatically.

A member of our staff – knowledgeable of the Jail’s history and paranormal lore – will be available to answer queries, aid in investigation and offer advice on Health & Safety. We can also provide hot water, seating and toilet facilities throughout the night – to make your ghost-hunt as comfortable as possible. And, as always, free secure parking is provided!

We recommend groups of up to 30 who can be split into smaller teams to investigate spaces such as separate cells, tower room, and outdoor exercise yard, alternating throughout the experience.

Did you know that education was a key aspect inmate reform? Historically, inmates were taught how to read, write and skills for an appropriate trade, such as cobbling and net weaving.

Nowadays, it’s important to us to continue action in education for all levels and creeds. Our school tours cover a wide range of educational areas linked closely with the CfE, with the intension of supporting active learning and bringing our history to life.

Included in this is our exciting outreach program where a member of our education team can teach single or blocks of afternoon activities from the comfort of your own classroom.

Whether you teach at primary, secondary, ASN, or you’re a home educator, we can tailor our lessons to your class’ needs and levels.
